I moved out of Salt Lake county to get away from the atmosphere and business. Building a prison in Saratoga Springs or Eagle Mountain defeats the purpose of having these family friendly cities. I also see an explosion of housing development in these two cities and don't see the room or sense of having a prison amid a family neighborhood? Won't they have to relocate again in a few years because of the huge growth? Let's put it in a place that has no chance of housing and commercial development. Eagle Mountain and Saratoga City are the new hot spots of growth in Utah just like Draper and Sandy were 10 to 20 years ago. They want to move the prison because the city is swallowing it up and they need the land. The same thing will happen out here in 10 to 20 years and we are looking a lot of wasted tax dollars.

Not cost efficient to move it a couple of mile, certainly don't want it in my back yard!

Put the prison where the population is not growing so fast and is not that big, like somewhere in Carbon county or Sanpete county.

The area where the Chemicial Depot was in Tooele County has closed down. That would be a great place to put the new prison. It takes 25-30 mins from Sataoga to get there. My husbands commute everyday to his job is 1 1/2 hrs. each way. If you want the job, you drive the commute is what I say.

It makes absolutely no sense to put the prison in an area of the state that is growing so fast. That land is close to residential areas. I don't understand why the needs of prison staff are weighted more heavily than that of a the community that would have to live with the prison. Surely the prison staff can travel a few more miles to put the prison somewhere out of sight, away from populated areas. One of the Toole sites (where the residents don't seem to mind as much either) seems like a much better alternative.

NO! I do not want a prison in my city. Build your prison in an area that wants you there and has a population willing to work there.

The thought of prisoners being released into this community puts my family and home at risk. The property value of the surrounding homes would plummet.

Draper wants it out so they can have "Downtown Draper" full of skyscrapers.

No No No! It is a nice family area and I have grandchildren that live there...Why would you blacken that family community with a prison..Take it out where there are no communities that the children will be safe...

Agree! Unfortunately there is a high demand for commercial property to go where the current prison is. And the state rep that is really pushing the relocation is also a developer -- a conflict of interest to me.
