Red light camera's barely bring any revenue to our county, in Suffolk County, NY its about 10% of the fine, the rest of the money is sent out of state. All the red light camera's are doing is getting people rear-ended and in unnecessary accidents, and making people in other states richer. Additionally, red light camera's give our local police less work to do so therefore we don't need as many therefore our tax dollars are being spent elsewhere. Additionally, it plays with the human psyche, if a driver knows that a particular light does not have a camera, they are inclined to run the red light as revenge for the fine they had to pay. Either get rid of these driving hazards and nuisances or lower taxes.
