Despite the fact that the Department of Transport has been presented with countless reviews, evaluations and recommendations that prove conclusively that safety cameras reduce driver speeds which in turn reduces casualties by 1,000’s Nationwide they are reducing Road Safety Specific Grants by 40% this year!
Speeding is most definitely a contributory factor in many road crashes and collisions and seriously decreases the chance of survival.
We are petitioning Norfolk County Council to keep safety cameras operational on Norfolk Roads.
The effect of this reduction alone will mean that Norfolk County Council Environment, Transport and Development Dept. will be faced with making what will effectively be life and death decisions when allocating the substantially reduced funds to road safety measures and initiatives in our County.
Time is of the essence everyone. The E.T. D. are presenting a report to Cabinet on the 11th October with proposals addressing this serious matter.
Please sign this petition by Friday 8th lunchtime.

I have been reading your stories about near misses on our local roads and the fear that comes with pulling out of a driveway. The reality of these budget cuts is sinking in for all of us and it reinforces why we must hold the council accountable for the safety of our neighborhood.

Seeing this level of support reminds me exactly why I started this fight for our roads. It is overwhelming to know so many of you are just as terrified as I am about these potential cuts.

Keep them on. People round here drive like complete maniacs even in 30 zones. We need these cameras to keep people safe.

Ridiculous decision. Why would you cut something that actually saves lives. Put the budget back where it belongs!
