The district finally implemented a zero tolerance policy for racial harassment. We forced them to listen. Keep watching to ensure they actually follow through.

Football players of Hough High School and other African American Students, within the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, have united in solidarity and support to all CMS African American students. Students have been subjected to racism, racial slurs, and injustices from peers/ classmates who have zero consequences or accountability for their actions. These instances have been via social media and on school grounds. Leadership responses to complaints of these instances have been, 1. It was not a direct threat or 2. It was via social media and outside of the school year or school hours. We believe that these responses are insensitive to the feeling of safety and inclusion to all African American students and must be addressed by the schools and CMS. Please sign in support as we must see a change and we must see it now. #BlackLivesMatter #NoChangeNoPlay

Equality...is all they are asking for. Why is that too much. I'm signing because I am a mother of a 20 year old black son and 7 year old black daughter...I want change for them.

My Kids graduated from Hough High in 2018 and 2019. We recognized the blatant racism as well as microaggressions. The administration is well aware of these concerns and conveniently takes the blind eye. I’m proud of this young man for taking a stance against racism. BLACK LIVES MATTER!

Admin lied about not being able to punish them because it was off school grounds and on social media. Your student handbook says that you can be disciplined, they just chose not to. Stand up for what you believe in! This teacher supports you!

If you make threats via social media you are expelled even arrested, if you cyber bully via social media you are expelled or arrested..if you spread hate you are free to move about the cabin?? Behavior isn't corrected by not saying or doing anything. CMS do better as a whole

Racism at hough Is a big problem. There needs to be repercussions for those who think they can throw slurs around at my classmates. That is not acceptable. No person deserves to be treated the way that they are being treated.

I’m proud of these young men for taking a stand. If the administration can’t support you then don’t continue to play for their program. You bring money and prestige to their school use that to leverage your collective strength and make tomorrow better for those coming behind you. ✊
