We as a community have spent the past 2 years expressing to you, our respresentatives, that we are excited about growth and rapid transit. But we are NOT okay with our government wiping out our neighborhoods with downtown-sized 65-85 foot tall apartments. We are looking at losing the culture and character of our town due to the massive growth you have voted for AGAINST the peoples' will. It is unacceptable that you are in, IN ADDITION, attempting to add significantly higher tax rates to the current residents, specifically to allow you to expand growth and increase the profits of developers. If developers want to build in Shoreline, then it is THEY who should be paying the additional taxes for the burden placed on our community.

I'm concerned about retirement with continuingly increasing property taxes. I'm a single homeowner, and may be retiring in the next 4 or 5 years. Such a high rate as proposed would be a financial hardship for me.

Shoreline residents already pay some of the highest taxes in the region. This tax increase is unfair and unreasonable since the Shoreline City Council doesn't listen to most of its constituents.

Watch your budget! City staffers are too numerous and too highly paid. That should be your first look to economize, not human services or parks!

The level of subterfuge in the city's presentation of their case is astounding. Anyone who devotes the time can connect these tax increases to unfunded infrastructure and services in the city staff's upzone fantasies.

The GMA demands concurrency, however, so far there has been little effort expended in providing adequate transportation options, preservation of historic buildings, or amenities that benefit the community (and not just the developers and city planners).
