Tomorrow night (19 Dec 2012) Lambeth Council's licensing committee will vote on giving a licence to a lapdancing club at 62a Brixton Road, SW9 6BS (see item 5a here: http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/moderngov/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=116&MId=8178)
Research has shown that such establishments normalise men's sexual objectification of women and can lead to an increase in violence against women. At a time when Lambeth Council are currently running the commendable Real Men know the Difference campaign http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/knowthedifference which promotes a zero tolerance approach to gender based violence, we do not see how giving a club such as this a licence is acceptable. We urge them to reject this application.
Please sign to show your support for us in opposing this licence application, and against any other such establishments being given a licence in Lambeth. Join us in saying no to the objectification of women!

I understand the power behind getting money from weak minded men, but c'mon some of them are incredibly weak and we can't prey on them too hard. That's stealing.
We dont need this here. Brixton has enough character without turning into a sleazy area. Please keep this place family friendly.
REALLY DISAPPOINTED. Lambeth council needs to get a grip and stop pushing this garbage on us.
Are you kidding me? Right on the main road? Totally inappropriate location for that kind of business. Keep it out.
walking home late at night is bad enough without having a club like this opening up on my street. just no.
