My dad, now 90, grew up in Austin and remembers so many beautiful areas that no longer exist. It's sad to think the places that made Austin desirable are slowly being built over. Please don't let that happen to this spectacular and natural area of Bull Creek.

I was born in Austin but our family moved away more than 60 years ago. I have vivid and visceral memories of walking along the river, visiting Deep Eddy pool and Barton Springs. Clearly, Bull Creek is another rare instance of beauty and calm. To permit a commercial structure along its banks is a stab in the back to what Austin has been. Please disallow any permit.

I grew up along Shoal Creek and value the unspoiled natural beauty of these irreplaceable waterways & trails in the city. This hotel should be located in a less environmentally sensitive area.

Horrible idea to put a hotel on that road. Traffic is already bad enough, it will only get worse. Not to mention the fact that the road is subject to flooding, and is shut down at least 3-4 times a year during periods of heavy rain.

Can’t believe consideration is even being given to this project The city and county obviously are ignorant to the disastrous effects this will have on the people who live out here. Traffic on Spicewood Springs Road is already overwhelming. Peak traffic periods in the area of this hotel cause traffic to back up past the entrance and will create even more problems as people wanting to depart or enter the hotel will create serious issues. This is a small 2-lane road with no left turn lane and no shoulder. If they build it the next thing they will be asking for from the city is a traffic light to control the problem and this would be done at taxpayer expense and we all know the city cannot make a move without spending money on a “study” first.
Bull Creek will be heavily impacted – runoff from the property will increase the flooding potential in the area due to the amount of impervious cover along the creek. Flooding will impact all the residents who live along the roadway. When it currently floods people living between the low water crossings are not able to get in and out of their own homes now so the situation will definitely become worse including the hotel patrons who will also be stuck. Once it is built then who is responsible for problems created by this project? The taxpayers.
The next thing the taxpayers would be facing is a huge redevelopment of the road itself to handle the traffic load caused by the hotel - including replacing all the low water crossings with bridges and widening the road. Those projects would also lead to further pollution of the watershed and would create another huge expense for the taxpayer. There is an abundance of wildlife in this area that cross this road to get to the creek so we will also see more dead animals on the road as the long privacy fence along the road will trap them along the narrow roadway. You don’t need a crystal ball to see what this type of development can ultimately lead to. This single project
