Deny the Special Use application for EnviroPower Renewable, Inc. to build and operate a Biomass Gasification plant that will effect the surrounding community negatively.
Over 100 applications in the United States have been submitted over the last 7 years to build and operate this kind of gasfication plant and all of them have been denied. Biomass Gasification Plants of this magnitude that gasify Construction and Building materials have yet to be implemented in the US.
Biomass gasification has been implemented in other countries and those countries have seen negative effects on the environment, wildlife, and the quality of life surrounding the plant.
There have been explosions, emissions violations, excessive noise, traffic, and odors, instances of respiratory distress have increased significantly, and home values have seen a dramatic decrease in value.
Las Vegas residents should not be Guinea pigs for this plant and its unproven technology.
The quality of life of Las Vegas families are very important and this plant will destroy that.
The technology the City Council proposes is unproven and therefore all of the risks are unknown. North Las Vegas is not a lab or an experiment, the residents should not be subject to the unknown.

There are schools, and residential neighborhoods all around there. That is not the place for an industrial building, especially one that has not been tested for emissions.
After Rezoning to build more Residential Homes in the immediate area to then allow this Potential Nuisance facility and its possible Air Quality problems near Schools, Housing, etc.. withour transparency reflects poorly on the newly elected Politicians who will be held accountable at the next election.
These types of businesses are not compatible with already existing communities. Please deny this request and offer an alternative away from any populated areas.
I don't feel that the city can state with confidence that this technology is completely safe, that they can guarantee that there will be no ill effects from exposure over the next 10 yrs that my children will attend school in the neighborhood.
I do not want to live near a dumping site. Isn't it enough the propane plant blew sky high? We have the pig farm and the seasonings plant right by there too. How badly do you want us to all abandon our homes and move to a neighborhood that cares about its residents?
In Italy they tell us the gasification plants are operating successfully. Obviously we don not beleave. Several plants have been authoryzed in Italy and they do not work properly.
Don't want that here. especially because it's near my children's school. and just isn't safe for anyone.

Hasn't our city's value plummeted enough? Going through with this plan is only going to make North Las Vegas even less desirable an area to live, in addition to threatening the health and property values of its current residents.
