I do not agree with this 9.75 increase in our rates each year for four years. I agree to a small rate rise but not nearly 10 per cent per year.

Please think of the singleton economy. A rate rise may tip families over the edge. Enough. Make the councillors and staff cut their pay rise this year.

We pay too much now and for what. Worst economic time for the valley with record numbers of people out of work or forced to take pay cuts the house and land valuations have all plummeted and the councils solution is to put the rates Up!!!!! Wake up you idiots!!!!!!!

I think the increase is ridiculous. We pay enough now for nothing. We live out of town & Council do not supply any services to us, so really what the hell are we paying for????

What a joke! A main street with bugger all parking and a red whale carcass from one end to the other and the work contracted by a sydney mob instead of local... not to mention drainage issues every time we get a downpour and now you want to lift the rates and make us pay for it??? What happened to the urban renewal money??? You are a disgrace Singleton Council!! Shame Shame Shame!

absolutely ludicrous, why does the council even think this is ok. Did I just hear the other day that MTW has to pay some exorbitant amount to the council due to their extension.

9.75% is robbery. The main street isn't much different. My partner has had to ring up Council and get the garbo to come back heaps of times as he's missed our bin. What a joke

More money for reducing services. No!

This is in no way justifiable in the current climate. When governments are slashing budgets to cut costs Singleton councillors attempt to strip their constituents even further. Not only do you fail in providing adequate services to your rate paying customers you now wish to increase the costs of these increasingly inadequate services. Shame on you! Bring on the next election!

No thanks, we don't get enough services to warrant such a hike.

Please get a clue Newcastle with ocean views pay lower rates at the moment this town will become a ghost town if our joke of a council has their way
