I’m asking all NL campers to sign this petition to open public and private campgrounds on Victoria Day weekend 2020, which is normally the beginning of the regular camping season. My husband and I have been avid campers since we met in 1992. We love the outdoors, the fresh air and yes the socializing. We understand this will not be a “normal” camping season as we have enjoyed over the years, but it’s our happy place where we feel most relaxed as we leave the hectic work life behind for those few days of stress free outdoor life. We do agree that the common areas of a campground should not open yet, such as playgrounds where children play freely and huts where adults gather. Restrictions NEED to be in place to keep us, our families and friends safe from covid-19. We are not children. We are adults with common sense. We NEED our happy place to keep us sane. Rules will not be broken, or we risk being evicted from our campground. Both of us can live with this, can you? Please sign asking our government and Health Department to reconsider and open our NL campgrounds by the Victoria Day Weekend 2020.

NL Government is being too harsh on seasonal campers. Almost all provinces in Canada have opened or are opening by June 1st. Nova Scotia are open now for seasonal campers.

I think the campground should open, for example look at the cabins in codroy valley they are basically on top of one another and they are permitted to go to there cabin and we are 50 feet away from the next campsite and we are not permitted, It don’t make sense

I am a health care worker and have been socially distancing to the best of my ability . I am confident that I could continue to do so while camping . If people are going to choose to NOT SOCIAL DISTANCE they will do it whether they are at their Home or at a Park ... just my opinion

We do not have community washrooms/showers in our campground. We use the ones in our travel trailers. We are all adults and should be trusted to follow restrictions. We have been following the guidelines so far so what would be the difference in going to our campsite in the fresh air and staying home in our houses.

I hope we can go camping. I feel as though we are safer in a organized park with measures in place then we are if everyone starts removing their campers from parks and start going into pits across the island.

My husband and I are seasonal campers and our camp site is bigger than our back yard. We are retired and live alone. Would have no problem staying in our bubble at the park.

Campsites are distanced further than houses in most cases. Keeping your bubble is quite easy.

I can’t understand how the mall is able to open before campgrounds
