Given that the final state budget allocation for schools is currently unknown, we respectfully request that the school budget process accommodate this unusual situation. As legislative indicators show restoration or increases to school funding, we request that the district, in a transparent and forthright manner, present to the community multiple “Proposed Educational Programs” based upon different funding scenarios for public input prior to adoption of the final budget.
In community partnership with the district, and in accordance to the district mission to provide an academically challenging educational program for all students, empowering them to be creative citizens, we implore the district to make funding educational programs and opportunities the highest priority, with restoration of budget reserves be made a secondary consideration. Furthermore, if reduction in staff is necessary, cuts would be made equitably, maintaining creative and academically challenging opportunities for students in offerings including Music, Art and ASL.
The district has remained silent on our request for transparent budget scenarios. Email your school board representative today to demand they prioritize classrooms over reserves.

The energy behind this demand has reached a level that the district can no longer ignore. Now I need you to send the link to three friends today and post it directly to your school committee representative's Facebook page.

The administration needs to be transparent. The community deserves to know how these cuts affect our classrooms.
