The City of Coronado has officially integrated beach closures into the Nixle alert system. I appreciate the commitment shown by the 191 individuals who supported this initiative to improve public health communication. Please remain attentive to these notifications as they are distributed moving forward.

Nixle is a text alert system to keep citizens up-to-date with relevant information from local public safety departments. Local beach closures from trans-border sewage represent a serious public health & safety threat. City of Coronado and Coronado Police Department issue Nixle alerts. CPD is a local public safety department. City of Coronado and/or CPD should issue Nixle alerts for beach closures within Coronado city limits.

Several residents have contacted me recently to share their own experiences with poor water quality at our beaches. I am currently compiling these accounts to present during an upcoming meeting with local public safety officials.

The momentum behind this initiative demonstrates a clear consensus regarding the necessity of timely public health communications. We are moving forward with our request for the City of Coronado to integrate beach closure notifications into the existing alert system.

This is an important public safety issue. If I get a nixle for closures for road work, certainly want a nixle for beach closures for unsafe water.
Nixle is so helpful in alerting the public to safety issues. Water quality is integral to the economy, health and safety of Coronado. It makes perfect sense to add this issue to Nixle alerts.
I am a Coronado local and surfer. I suffer badly when I get a sinus infection so I would appreciate notices of H2O pollution!
Water Quality is critical information that should be easily accessible to the public. Not hidden in some obscure site that takes 10 clicks to get to.
Coronado beaches are closed now... Nixle alert should be issued ASAP as we head into holiday weekend.
Please ensure the safety of your beachgoers.

Does not seem to be too much to ask from a City like Coronado! A little transparency for the sake of the health of your residents and visitors please!
