As racers, parents, grandparents, supporters and sponsors of the NHRA Junior Drag racing program we feel that the National Hot Rod Association should re-consider its new for 2010 rule that bans on-board video cameras on Junior Dragsters. On board cameras have increased awareness of the Junior program significantly and have increased the amount of sponsor dollars and participants. We believe cameras should be mounted in a satisfactory way as to insure that it stays mounted and not be a safety factor for the participant or track staff. And a rule stating such would be satisfactory. Rather than an outright banning of such cameras.

I was just looking at the count and we are nearly halfway to that next big milestone so I need you all to send this link to the other racing parents you know right now because visibility is honestly everything for these kids and I really think someone at the NHRA is finally starting to look at this page.

I was looking at some of the footage from last year and it just makes no sense to lose that kind of exposure for the junior program because someone thinks a camera is a hazard when we could just mandate better mounts. People keep messaging me with their own ideas on how to secure them and honestly it feels like a real community effort even if the officials are still acting like they do not see any of this.

I was just looking at the count and we are almost at one hundred signatures which is honestly kind of wild because I remember when this was just me venting in the garage with a half finished cup of coffee. Please send this link to that one friend who keeps telling you they want to get more involved in the junior program so we can finally hit this milestone and get the NHRA to actually look at how much we care about filming our own races.

Sponsors want to see the footage. Without that video content it is way harder to get help for these kids. Change the rule back.

Ridiculous rule. Kids love watching their runs and it helps them learn what they did wrong. Just inspect the mounts and move on.

My son loves showing his racing videos to his friends at school. Why take away the one thing that keeps them excited to come back to the track?

Just make a safety standard for the mounting bracket. An outright ban is just lazy regulation.

Outrageous rule.
