This is very sexist and is in NO way fair to the females. I don't even attend Northern but I feel as strongly about this as those who do. The males need to learn to respect the females and if they are distracted by what we chose to wear that is their own fault. This is completely unfair and disrupts OUR learning.

this really makes me mad. school administrators are encouraging and aiding along the oversexualization of the female body and that should not be looked over. leggings are for comfort, just as much as athletic shorts are for men. but nike shorts are also not allowed for women so they wouldn't know about that comfort either!!! women that attend nghs are being put in a position to care more about "not distracting male students" than working hard in school, and there is something wrong with that. and clearly, the males were not very distracted when females COULD wear leggings and skinny jeans, considering the various academic awards the school received just last year. instead of worrying about what girls put on THEIR bodies, worry about more the important things that have academic purposes.

Rules like this are promoting rape culture and instead of telling females to cover up because a guy might look at you, tell the male not to sexualize women. This rule is basically saying "She was asking for it, her clothes were too tight"

In a century were women are constantly being judged by what they wear (as y'all are doing now with this rule) you should be encouraging young women to be confident in theirselves and not tearing them down as you are with this dress code change. The boys are fully capable of controlling themselves. p.s. Administration I hope you have fun telling your teenage daughter she can't wear her skinny jeans to school knowing she has at least a few pair in her closet.

I think that as young adults, males are fully capable of controlling themselves. Not always does it have to do with gender and what they wear. Again, as young adults females know how to conduct themselves and wear that stuff for comfort. Also, our school has had no rule about leggings for a long time so to us..it's a big deal because you're putting unecessary rules on things with no relevancy.

What are girls of this generation supposed to wear if they can't wear any of that? Nobody tryna wear khakis, and i don't even go to that school anymore. Just trying to have my fellow nighthawks backs.

This dress code is ridiculous and quite clearly targets the clothing choices of young women. absolutely ridiculous in this day and age.

Agreed that this is sexist and that boys should be the ones to learn how to respect women instead of the women working their way around the rules so that males won't be distracted

Ridiculous. How about the dresscode for your male students?

I'm signing because I do not believe in sending the message that young girls must cover their bodies because of their inherently sexual nature. Also, I think there should be more specific protections for women who wear head coverings for religious reasons.

Used to love this school, but it's already going downhill fast and this school year hasn't even started yet.

This new rule is so sexist. We should be teaching boys to not objectify girls instead of teaching girls to be ashamed of their bodies.....
