no where in the dress code is it "discriminating" women. this dress code also applies to guys which means guys can't wear leggings either even if they wanted to. and all those people talking about all our academic awards last year saying it was while we had the old dress code, the old dress code is not the sole/main reason why we were on of the top schools so just sayin

So if girls wear leggings, they are not setting a good first impression? If someone were to walk into the building, do they really think that the school is "set apart" because of the females not wearing leggings? Last time I checked, NGHS is for the students, NOT for people who visit. Females cannot wear Nike Shorts, so they are already limited in the comfort department. But taking away leggings? This is absurd. There are plenty of other ways to set this school apart from others, so why choose something that angers students? Students will continue to wear leggings, but they will get ISS for breaking this insane dress code. Would it honestly look well if there were a lot of females that received ISS for wearing LEGGINGS? That just shows the administration is willing to pull these students out of class, just because of their attire. Is that going to set a good example? Is this showing that Northern is setting a good example, with plenty of females in ISS? Northern was ranked for their academics last year, WITHOUT this ridiculous dress code. The SCORES should be the first impression of this school, not of females are wearing leggings (which completely cover their legs, therefore there is no reason that they should not be allowed to wear them). One of my friends is a senior at the Early College at Guilford, and they do not have a dress code. All students can wear whatever they choose, and yet this high school is nationally ranked within the top 25, and is the number one high school in North Carolina. And do you think that they are not setting a good impression if their females are wearing leggings, Nike shorts, denim shorts, or even tank tops? These students are on a college campus, and some of them even, dare I say, wear crop tops (I bet you are appalled!). But, that school is still at the top in academics, and they set a fantastic example for other schools. So why is Northern now setting a "bad" example with females wearing leggings? There

As a mom I am willing to take this to the top of the media sources to get the story told. I will demonstrate in front of the school and will NOT take this new set of sexist, sexualized rules and the "norm" I'm ready to fight. It's 2016 ladies. Get ready to stand up for yourselves

I'm a mom and this affects me also. I want my child to be able to dress comfortably in order to be able to focus on her studies and not the clothes. I am not about to go buy men's XL shirts so my daughter's ass can be covered. And THIS IS ALSO very much related to the many things wrong at northern. From teacher turnover to low quality educators. Increase test scores, teach skills and bring in a more open minded administration. Forget this dress code nonsense.

However this is STILL a school. It's not the pentagon, it's not a corporation and it's attended by 14-18 year olds. It's unrealistic to expect girls to wear leggings with tops 6" above the knee. That's a dress and would look sloppy rather than put together. In winter they have to go buy a parents' sized top to be able to wear over yoga pants. Call it what you want. Making girls cover their buttocks is sexual discrimination. Period.

This is nothing more than sexual discrimination. An outrage that a girl needs to dress like a clown to be taken seriously because the administration is sexualizing yoga pants and butts. Women in powerful positions in the workforce wear tight figure faltering pants everyday. It is 2016 and I, a parent, find this appalling! I'm ready to take to to the local and national news! It's time to take a stand!

This is ridiculous it doesn't make any sense, but rather than the males sexualizing girls and the females having to be punished for it is they should teach these mails how did that sexualize women but to respect them and to see them as their equal not as a sexual object . If the school believes that the female is in the wrong then honestly there's a problem with the school not the dress code . By setting the standards it sends a message to the males in the school that females are wrong t by setting the standards it sends a message to the students that their body Image is shameful this is simply unacceptable

People wearing leggings, or showing shoulders, or a bra strap isn't going to be anymore distracting then someone's phone, their friend, a window, or the annoying person next to them who won't stop talking.

We should not have to change your dress code because of the male specimens point of view it's wrong girl should be able to feel comfortable going to school in clothes that they Hill Country bowling other than what we should wear so guys don't look at us not our fault that the male specimen is that way.

Women should be able to express themselves through their clothing with worrying about what some man might think. Im signing this because it's wrong, things like shoulders and knees should not be sexualized. Women dress for themselves, while trying to get an equal education. That education should NEVER be jeopardized nor put on hold because of a man's opinion.

I feel that boys are going to be boys but due to there negative actions we shouldn't have to change the way we dress. We should still be able to wear what we want and be proud to wear it.
