By enforcing this dress code, you're enforcing that our male classmates education is more important than ours. As well, you're saying that our focus should be on whether our clothes abide this strict code versus our education and future.

I don't even go to this school but if the dress code is stricter than ours, that's bad.

Would of been great if the dress code came out prior to us going school clothes shopping.

A women's body shouldn't be seen as a "distraction", especially in such a young and developing environment. Teaching women and men that their bodies can be seen and not sexualized is something important, especially in today's day and age. The fact that not being able to wear leggings is supposed to be accepted as the norm shows that anything females do has the possibility to sexualized and derailed. In a school environment it's important to teach the vitals of life and one of those is undoubtedly respecting women and allowing them to express themselves with self-confidence and not have to worry about being shamed for it.

We are one of the only public schools in guilford county that has a strict dress code along these lines. It is clearly sexist and inconvenient for students who have already done their back to school clothing shopping. Many families can only afford for one shopping trip. The late notice of this change is absurd and adding to it we don't even know who our principal and administration is!!

I don't go to Northern, but at my school girls aren't objectified like this. Boys at my school know how to properly behave and conduct themselves around girls. Why is it our fault that boys can't control themselves? Maybe instead of trying to shame girls for expressing themselves, the school should teach the boys to not be so sensitive.
