NGHS dress code

This is ridiculous. As a teenage girl, leggings are comfortable! If guys are allowed to wear athletic shorts in quite frankly any length they want, then a girl should be allowed to wear leggings and be comfortable! The dress code is pointed directly at the girls. "All tight clothing" and "tank tops covering the whole back" shouldn't matter! If I decide one day to wear leggings because I want to then I should be allowed to. If I decide to wear a tank top that, heaven forbid, shows my shoulder then I should be allowed to. My clothing as a teenage girl will not change test grades, or sexual harassment levels. My clothing as a teenage girl is simply for MYSELF and MYSELF only. This dress code has gone too far. What's next? Only long sleeve shirts because my wrist will turn a guy on? Absolutely Crazy.

Girls being sent home for "distracting males" just shows us that our education is not being as valued as the male education. Maybe we should teach guys to not get distracted every time they see a shoulder instead of making us go change every time we "distract a male from learning" with our outfits. Fyi boobs and butt on girls is a SECONDARY sex organ, you know what the male secondary sex organ is? Their Adam's apple and facial hair. But you don't see our administration telling them to wear turtles necks and shave off their stubble do you?

It was never a problem before? It doesn't show any skin? Why does it matter just let people where what they want? We're all in high school we can handle it.

LMAO SERIOUSLY I JUST BOUGHT NEW LEGGINGS FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR! But anyway I have to say that we should be allowed to wear what we want to wear, last year, no one really broke the dress code much so I don't know why they are enforcing it.

Some clothes some people would call "tight" are the only thing we feel comfortable in and can buy

This is not right we shouldn't have to change our way of dressing bc guys can't respect us enough to not look at us in inappropriate ways.

This part of the new dress code is absolutely ridiculous! The whole dress code is basically directed towards the girls. My mom (who works at the highschool) said that the wording at the top of the dress code was changed so girls didn't think it was about the boys, but, it is. This part of the dress code is sexist. It says that they are trying to prepare us for the "real world", job interviews and other things. Us girls should be able to express ourselves through clothing we like. Also stores that we shop at don't make clothes that follow this dress code and we can't control that! We shouldn't have to alter our clothing style for boys who can't control themselves. I hope we can make the administration and parents on the committee see that this dress code is sexist and all about the boys and not about the "real world."

TBH I don't go there anymore, but I would be actually outraged. We SHOULD be setting an example for the coming highschoolers and even younger, that we shouldn't limit ourselves because males can't control themselves. The lesson we should be teaching to everyone is to not sexualize ever thing girls do, and that fashion is a freedom of expression that shouldn't be limited because of fellow classmates.

Dress code restrictions are based of whimsical fairytales that superintendents make up. Just because you remove tight pants or tank tops from a school isnt going to boost your test grades and drop sexual harassment cases. Let people wear what makes them comfortable and happy. All this garbage about creating a school environment that's not safe or distracting is so far-fetched. Let the people do what they want.
