NGHS dress code

Men need to learn to respect women we are already limited to shorts, dresses, skirts, etc. Now leggings and jeggings that's like saying no skinny jeans. We women are more targeted in fashion than men.

This is so unfair they would unfairly treat the young women in our school.

I graduated from Northern in 2014. These restrictions are rediculous and continue to reinforce the medieval notion that it's more important that boys have a classroom that's 100% free of anything that could possibly distract them from their education, than for girls to go to school at all. If you even pretend to give a damn about gender equality, you'll either start suspending boys if you can see their underwear, or ditch this absurd policy.

I go to WGHS but am still disgusted by this decision. It was prevalent in my middle school as well (Kernodle) where the girls in my sisters grade were made to stand up so teachers could inspect the clothing of 11-14 year old girls but when a boy video taped girls (including my young sister) in their locker room the school barely lifted a finger. Disgusting.

I kinda understand the tight fitting clothes but their teens why dictate the situation. Just a thought

I find this to be sexist towards girls. And we cannot help what our body looks like to boys. We are young women in high school with growing bodies. Even with pants or sweat pants, we are seen as objects and not humans. So instead of putting extreme changes to the dress code, teach boys how to respect us and our bodies.

NGHS instead of coming up with ridiculous changes to a perfectly acceptable dress code, why haven't you been doing your jobs? Why have the students not been assigned homerooms, lunch times, etc. by now? It seems to me if you were doing your jobs instead of worrying about what type of impression a visitor receives when visiting the school these things would be done. Your first and foremost responsibility is to teach our children the subjects you were hired to teach. It is not your responsibility to force your prejudices about fashion on our children.

I do not agree with the practice of dictating what females are to wear. I would suggest that if the male students are so easily distracted by the female physique, they should be locked up during summer months and never allowed access to swimming pools or beaches where females congregate. If they can control themselves over the course of a summer, what makes you think they cannot control themselves during the school year?

While I understand the school's concerns about provocative clothing distracting students, this is a ridiculous policy. Regardless of what a female student wears, a student who is attracted to said female could care less about her outfit. If the school truly wishes to have a stronger learning environment, its students must feel comfortable in order to perform their best work.

This dress code for girls is archaic; so now we are going back fifty years when girl students thought they were to dress to impress boys, not for comfort. WOW! we are going backward, not forward into the future. Our girls deserve better!!!!

I am sorry, but my daughter always respects herself, and she wears jeggings and tank tops. If your self-respect is tied to dressing like someone from 1920, than that is your right to dress that way. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Please supply parents and students the data used to make this decision. Otherwise repeal it.

As a parent of a student at Northern Guilford High School, I found the dress code offensive especially to the female students. A lot of the restrictions violate religious rights, are sexist, and the building blocks to a "Stepford School". I do not know who thought up these restrictions, but they need to get a life and take a good look at real life today and stop watching oldies on TVLAND.

This is unrealistic and absurd. Plain and simple.
