Te Ahuahu o Taiamai Hapu Round 3 Submission, submission close Tuesday 23 October, make your voice heard!
- This petition is submitted on behalf of members of hapu and marae, as defined by whakapapa, in the rohe of Taiāmai.
- We acknowledge the Ngāpuhi document released 3 October 2018 by Te Rōpū Tūhono, regarding the third version of the evolved mandate and negotiation structure for Ngāpuhi.
- In addition to our previous Nga Hapu o Taiamai submission made on 24 September 2018, we now make the following statements in response to this and related round 3 documents.
- We reject the third proposal for the Ngāpuhi evolved mandate and negotiation structure, on the following grounds:
- We do not trust that the evolved mandate can give effect to our settlement aspirations and/or provide a fair process within which to work;
- The current process does not provide us with enough time to consider the detail and seek clarification so that we can make clear and confident decisions;
- The proposed voting process is unclear and requires a lot of trust. We have very little trust in this process and the people managing it.
- With regard to Ngapuhi ki waho i te rohe and kaumatua and kuia representation we have already stated our position in our previous submission and that is, they need to come through hapu, so hapu can speak with one voice.
- We totally oppose a Runanga representative on any board

I sent my feedback in for the first closing date. I’m still confused, listening in has not really clarified much for me regarding the present process. I’ve decided to trust your proposal. You have been here for the long haul, so I believe you know best.

There is a compromise on our mana motuhake when we have to take part in this process whether we like it or not, when there are hapu who are against it as seen on recent media.
I don’t support the third proposal. However I do support a settlement as long as the process is led by hapu and for hapu.
