Paramount is making a new Star Trek movie, set to release on Christmas Day 2008. Currently titled Star Trek XI, the film is going to be produced and directed by J.J. Abrams (Alias, Lost, Mission Impossible III). It also appears that the new Trek movie is going to start from scratch kind of like Casino Royale and Batman Begins did with their characters. That means new actors are going to be cast to play the classic roles of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov and Scotty. It\'s the opinion of this writer (and the purpose of this petition) that only one actor is worthy enough to fill the shoes of the late James Doohan: Paul McGillion. Known for his role as Dr. Carson Becket on Stargate Atlantis, I cannot think of a better actor to take over as the outspoken Scotish Engineer in the new Star Trek remake.
