Re-instate Jason Lynch as Head Coach
Coach Lynch has created one of the premier aquatics programs in the United States, preparing athletes
for competition in high school, college and national teams, and fielding a competitive team in every level. Coach Lynch's focus on excellence in character is a hallmark for his aquatics program.
Since arriving at Newport Harbor High School in 2001, Coach Lynch has taken the Sailors Water Polo team to win the League Championship in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010. He has also taken the team to the CIF Quarterfinals in Division I five times, and the CIF Division I Finals in 2005, and to the Semi Finals of both the CIF Division I and CIF Master’s playoffs in 2006. This year his team finished fifth at the CIF Master’s playoffs and won the 2007 CIF Division I championship. Coach Lynch was named the CIF Coach of the Year for 2007.
Coach Lynch has served as the U.S.A. Water Polo Men’s National Youth, Junior and Cadet Coach from 1999 to the present. He plays an instrumental role in training athletes to represent the United States through the Olympic Development Program.
The administration of Newport Harbor High School
has taken a shortsighted and detrimental action in removing Coach Lynch from his coaching duties. The excellence that is Newport Harbor Aquatics has already been severely damaged by the actions of the school administration in responding to a couple of disgruntled families. And the administration has failed to set a timetable for resolving this matter.
By signing this petition, you are demanding that the administration of Newport Harbor High School and the Newport Mesa Unified School District immediately re-instate Jason Lynch as head coach of the water polo and swimming programs.
