Heaven Awaits Ltd Gentleman’s Club situated at 109 High Street Newmarket CB8 8JH
Despite
Forest Heath District Council’s own Policy which states that the grant or
renewal of a licence would be inappropriate having regard to the character of
the relevant locality and would not normally grant a licence where any premises
within the vicinity are used for the following:
(a) school (b) place of worship (c) family leisure (d)
domestic residential buildings (e) important historic buildings (f) youth
facilities (g) important public and cultural facilities.
We the undersigned believe that Heaven Awaits
(Gentleman's Club) situated as it is, in a prominent position in Newmarket High
Street and within the vicinity of the above, should not have
its Sexual Entertainment Venue (SEV) Licence renewed.

I started this effort because I felt troubled by our town center and I never imagined so many of you would agree with me. Seeing people speak up about our neighborhood is humbling and this momentum truly belongs to every one of you who chose to pay attention.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum behind this because I never imagined so many people felt the same way. This progress belongs entirely to all of you who stepped up to speak out. I am just humbled to be a part of what you have started.

Clubs such as Heaven Awaits creates a link between financial gain and female sexuality, gives the wrong signals to both men and women in this town. Newmarket will be a healthier place without men paying for a sexual encounter in the High Street.
the Council needs to stick to it's own poolicies and listen to the people of Newmarket
A completely inappropriate way forward for a town with a unique heritage as the world headquarters of racing. The town and museum on the high street attract thousands of tourists as does the National Stud, which is hoping to bid for a UNESCO world heritage rank. A sex business is totally without character in this locality.
This club is situated in a totally inappropriate position. Also in this day of equality and anti sexism these places should not be allowed.
The venue is a sad reflection on our society. Is this the impression we want to create/display of an historic town to the many visitors and townsfolk..
