Proposals
Uniform Proposal
11.15.2012
Student Council
This proposal is regarding Sacred Heart's dress code. I understand we have a set dress code of which isn't very lenient which is why the Student Council would like to suggest some additional features to the dress code we believe will benefit the students and the school as a whole. The Student Council would like to propose an idea that will help promote the school, make money for the school, and also meet the desires of the student body. We are proposing to sell more Sacred Heart attire in the bookstore such as team jackets, nice (comfortable) sacred heart sweaters (different from the blue ones), and school fleeces. We believe that these items, if sold in the bookstore, will not only bring in money but also promote the school. As of right now not many students wear Sacred Heart attire outside of school, and if this is passed we believe many students will wear these items because of their comfort, warmth, and style. Obviously we are not asking for a huge change to the uniform, just a slight addition to it that allows the student body to have a few more options not only for style and comfort but also for
warmth. Many schools such as Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree have instituted this into their dress code so students will buy the clothing for profits, wear the clothing to promote the school, and also wear it to show school spirit (as displayed in their student handbook at awhs.org). For these reasons the Student Council would like to make a formal proposal that will hopefully be carefully thought over and passed. Thank you for your time.
Evidence
Provided
All dress code options presented abide by the Sacred Heart
Handbook that states that “All students are expected to be neat, clean, and
presentable.”
Hard copies of requested options for new lands end
sweaters are available on request. The current sweaters are uncomfortable and provide no warmth for the
cold winter days. All options are available in the school color of TRUE NAVY or
CLASSIC NAVY. All sweaters are also available for monograms. These options give
students more freedom to express their style while looking professional and
still abiding by the current dress code regulations.
Archbishop Williams High School dress
code regulations are available online. It states that “AWHS fleece jackets and AWHS team jackets are
approved outerwear.” Student council proposes that school outerwear like Letterman jackets, athletic warm-ups, and school sweatshirts to be worn on cold
winter days during school. The jackets are clean and presentable, and also
promote the school if students wear them with pride in different locations
after school.
