We've all seen the adverts..."we never put a healthy dog down" but the truth is currently not as sweet as the slogan suggests. Currently, hundreds of healthy and rehomeable dogs are being put-down because of a lack of resources, funds and laws. In 2009 Battersea released these figures; 7,866 dogs were brought in 2,815 dogs had to be put to sleep 1,931 of the dogs put down were healthy That's nearly 5000 helpless dogs that were destroyed, 2000 of which would have lived long and happy lives if given the chance. I want to see stricter laws on what constitutes as an "unrehomeable" dog and more funding available to protect those who have been strayed or neglected.
