Dear Neilers,
As many of you know, the Toronto Catholic District School Board is reviewing the possibility for high school closures in the East End of Toronto. This is due to the fact that there is under-subscription in one school (St. Patrick's) and over-subscription in four schools (Vanier, Cardinal Newman, Notre Dame and Neil McNeil).
Currently there are three options on the table:
1. Relocate Notre Dame to St. Patrick's property.
2. Relocate Neil McNeil to St. Patrick's property; and either (a) sell the property, or (b) relocate Notre Dame to Neil property.
3. Provide new programs to St. Patrick's to encourage new enrollment.
On January 7 an ARC public meeting was held at Neil McNeil. ARC committee representatives, current Neil students, alumni and faculty all overwhelmingly rejected the inclusion of option 2. Furthermore, it was clear that option 3 was the most favourable to the 300+ people in attendance.
We stand behind the Spiritan Fathers to continue the strong tradition of Neil McNeil as an all-boys Catholic school located at Victoria Park and Kingston Road.
Mr. Alway, we, the undersigned take a strong and unequivocal stance that OPTION 2 must be removed from final consideration. Furthermore, the relocation of Neil McNeil should not be discussed until the terms of the "covenant" with the Spiritan Fathers have been fulfilled. We trust that a creative solution will be found, which serves the needs of all the students involved.
just saw we passed 100 signatures and i honestly cant believe how fast this is growing. so glad to see so many people care about keeping neil exactly where it belongs.

Been a part of the community for generations. Moving the school would destroy the connection it has with the local families. Fix St Pats instead.

So much history here. Why would they even consider this? Stop trying to fix things that arent broken.

Neil McNeil is a tradition in this neighborhood. You cant just uproot a school with this much history because of some board meeting. Keep it where it is.
