The City of Huntington Beach is not allowing any events in our small Neighborhood Parks at this time. The City's explanation of this is as follows : "Neighborhood parks are designed to serve the immediate community and are intended or drop in or first come-first serve uses and activities by the general public. The City is seeking to assure that all neighborhood parks are open and available to the general public. To that end, neighborhood parks are NOT available for reservation. Requests for special permits, which include vending, advertising, or activities events that restrict general access to any area of a neighborhood park, will not be approved.
We not only agree that the Moffett Park should be used by everyone, but we want to help promote the use of the Park as well. In hosting these neighborhood events, our intention is to include and connect with all our neighbors.
These events help make the Moffett tract the great and desirable neighborhood it is. While the City reviews these policies, please help us in our efforts to allow our future family-fun events at Moffett Park. We appreciate your understanding and support!
This is ridiculous. The movie in the park was FREE and open to EVERYONE. How does this go counter to serving the immediate community and open to the general public? There is plenty of park space available. Movies in the park help bring neighbors together and increases park usage. Why would this be against city values?
