MiraBay is comprised in large part of growing families and has the facilities to provide these resident families with meaningful activities for children. Yet, while this population of residents has continued to grow, we have watched children programs and sport offerings shrink, while ongoing efforts and funding continue to address the needs of other residents. As the facilities we pay for sit empty after school, parents living in MiraBay are placing their children in sports in neighboring communities and programs. The money tied to these activities could easily stay in MiraBay (by offering sports in the already existing facilities) and be used to support all residents, while in turn also supporting the health and growth of children growing up in the community. Whether you have small children or not, please show your support for the children growing up in the community. Most of us are tied up caring for our children while CDD meetings happen, and we need our voices to be heard.

Examples of activities that could be implemented include:

-Adding sports offerings in the YMCA after school program (such as on the basketball, swimming, etc.);

-Allowing children enrolled in the YMCA after school program to attend tennis or swimming classes during the after school program rather than simply play (of note to other residents, these kids are already using the facilities so impact on others should be minimal);

-Bringing back Soccer Shots or other soccer programs;

-Offering a swim league or "pre-team" swimming lessons in the neighborhood

I would assume that many parents would be willing to pay a good amount to have these activities in the community.
