We, the citizens of North County San Diego, ask our respective Mayors and the area\'s City Councils to endorse the United States Mayors Climate Protection Agreement and follow through with its goals. More than five hundred cities have become \"cool\" cities and have signed on to the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement including San Diego, Solana Beach, La Mesa and Chula Vista. Under the U.S. Mayors\' Climate Protection Agreement participating cities commit to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions 7% below 1990\'s level by 2012. The Cool Cities campaign urges cities to reach these goals by innovative and economical solutions such as green vehicles, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. We would like to see North County take care of our precious environment and the future health of our communities. Therefore we have created this petition to present to the City Councils so its members understand what their constituents want and expect.
