Every year there are multiple cases where college athletes who have a very promising future in their respective sport, do not graduate. For the most part, this is due to the fact that they do not make any money while their academics and lifestyles are hugely impacted by their time consuming sports. If these athletes go through so much struggle to play the sport they love, why not pay them and help ease the effects that college sports have on the students?
If we as students are told to join extracurriculars, yet keep up with our schoolwork, our daily responsibilities such as chores or taking care of younger siblings or sick family members, then why should student athletes not get paid? We basically get told to get involved, and yet some of us don't even graduate. we think joining a sport would actually help with our involvement and get us better jobs so we're too busy trying to do things, and join things, but its hard to keep a busy schedule. pay them!!!
