The federal government has officially designated the day as a national holiday to honor the great Native American chiefs. We have achieved our primary objective and will now shift our focus to ensuring the educational curriculum for the day is implemented correctly across all schools.

The reach of this proposal has grown enough to secure a meeting with the committee chair next week. I am currently finalizing the formal brief to ensure our objectives are clearly documented for the record.

Just as the founders of the current nation are remembered I would love for our ancestors who were here first to be remembered just as much. Thank you!
I have never understood why there wasnt a day for this by now! there are many dates that would befit the observance, but I think it should be December 29th bcasue that is the day of the Wounded Knee masacre. Long Live Chief BIG FOOT!!
I want my decendents the know i'm in the number. Taking a stance to make sure the history of our people on our land never dies!!!
It is a good and right thing to do, to honor the people who have stood as stewards of this land for thousands of years.
To make the United States of America and surrounding countries, millions had to be slaughter. A day of remembrance is the least that can be done.
I think this is a good start. The Natives Americans don't get any recognition in fact they deserve a lot more they've been treated so unfairly throughout the history of this country.

I believe that it is way past time that we as Americans show the respect that the Native Americans deserve. I went to school in the south and I had to educate myself on the real history of this great land.
