This petition will serve as proof that Nantucket Island needs full time, year round pediatric services for our children. The availability of medical care for our children is a growing problem as our current physician's offices cannot accomodate the amount of patients that have come to reside on the island. I love our doctors but it's just not working.  The wait list to see a PCP as an existing patient is beyond unacceptable. When a parent has no other option than the emergency department for a sick child, how can NCH expect parents to afford the co-pays? I am asking that NCH resolve this problem by hiring at least one full-time, year-round pediatrician, preferably one that could offer some Saturday office hours!  I am asking for the support of parents and other islanders.  With your support, I intend on presenting my concerns to Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
