The Academy has officially approved the naming of the lower soccer field in honor of Dr. Raymond Cieplik. I am deeply appreciative of the 274 individuals who supported this effort to recognize his enduring legacy. We look forward to the upcoming ceremony that will formalize this tribute.
The undersigned alumni, employees, and friends of the Coast Guard Academy hereby respectfully petition you to authorize the naming of the lower soccer field at the US Coast Guard Academy after Dr. Raymond Cieplik. The list of the names of the petitioners is provided below.
The groundswell of enthusiasm for honoring Dr. Cieplik has exceeded my initial expectations. It is heartening to observe how many members of the academy community recognize the profound legacy he established on the soccer field.

CGA 92. Wholeheartedly support naming the lower soccer field after Coach Cieplik. I will always be grateful for his support on and off the field at CGA, and throughout my career until the day I retired. A class act who had a gift for making everyone around him feel like an MVP.

I never played soccer for Coach Cieplik (I swam four years) but Coach Cielplik always knew my name, how I did at swim meets etc... He was a great man - well deserving of the honor of naming the Soccer Field in his name.

Played sports all my life and he was the best coach I ever had. He recognized my sports ability when I arrived at the academy while playing Flicker ball. Even though I had never played soccer in one rear he turned me into a starting center forward as a sophomore. I love this man.

Coach Ceplik was instrumental in assisting with my application to USCGA as a soccer recruit after an unplanned visit to the lower soccer fileld on a Saturday in February 1980. I would be greatly appreciate naming this field in his honor.

I may not have gone to CGA were it not for Ray Cieplik and I may not have graduated. He and his wife Kathy added a little bit of home to so many cadet athletes. He embodies honor, respect and devotion to duty

Tks to Mr. Brewer for taking this recognition effot on. It should have been done years ago. Shame on the rest of us for not thinking of it sooner. Played for Coach C's first CGA team and it was clear from the start that he was the right man for the job. Proud to have played under his leadership.
