I just looked at the screen and realized we hit two hundred and fifty signatures which is honestly just wild because I remember when this was just a weird thought I had while driving past the high school. It makes me think about those old floorboards and how Tom would probably be laughing at all this fuss being made over him right now.

Coach Mapes will always be remembered by me, as a great guy who was always fun to be around. Even when we would piss him off in practice or games, it wouldn't take long to get him to laugh. Grant should be honored to have his name on the Gym. I consider myself very lucky to have had him in my life.
great idea he deserves it.He made a impact on a lot of people in the community.I enjoyed playing for him in the late 70's
Mr Maple spent lots of his time in that gym. He made great productive men and women in that gym. That gym IS his and there should be no other name on it but his because of his love for Grant highschool kids!!
I know they named the field house lee over court, which he never played on but all of Toms games through the 25 -30 years there were on the East gyms floor Should be named after him And be done with a Varsity game being played in there when they do it
I'm not sure why the new gymnasium is not named after Tom Maple. Why the old gymnasium? What's wrong with a name change for the new gymnasium? Make a wrong decision right?
Great idea for a special man.
I was hoping something would be dedicated in his name. The gym is a perfect idea.

I played for other good coaches at Grant, but Mapes was special. He was so genuine and connected with people. He was always there to listen and help. Let's make this happen!
