I feel naming the landing for the ferry in the Rockaway's, Deckelman's landing would be fitting for the person and area, for all of her hard work and dedication.

This would truly be a deserved honor. No one has done more for publicizing the need the Rockaway community has for a ferry.

Laura is WAY too modest to toot her own horn (excuse the nautical metaphor) about this - but I am not held back by any such constraints. This is a great idea, given the work she has been doing every day on behalf of our ferry - FIRST when we had the ferry to try and keep it, THEN after we lost it to try and get it back, THEN after the Mayor announced that ferry service would be coming back (in 2017) , to try and get it back sooner rather than later, and NOW, helping to organize the Rockaway Ferry Committee that recently met with the EDC and that in the months to come will meet with the operator(s), when it/they are finally named as well as with the EDC and any other relevant officials, agencies or parties to express community questions, concerns and suggestions, to make sure than when the ferry DOES come back, it's DONE RIGHT.
So let's all follow Laura's lead and KEEP CALM - AND FERRY ON!

I think it's a great idea, because she did do a lot of work trying to get the ferry back, she had very little or no support, and it just sounds like that's what it should be named, deckelmans landing, fitting and perfect!

The Rockaway Ferry Dock should definitely be named after Laura Deckelman. Laura is so dedicated to the Rockaway Ferry and has worked so hard and so long to keep the ferry alive. I have seen her in action, and she amazes me... besides never giving up, she has a spirit and dedication for the ferry that no one else has.

Absolutely, some people worked for years to gain a ferry and most people don't even know their names. Laura however is well known in regards to the ferry fight and it's more then fair her name be used.

There is NO other person in All of Rockaway who has fought as long and as hard for ferry then Laura .
The ridership had increased because of Laura's passion and I am sure it will again with her help!
