- John Marshall is not a noteworthy namesake for this public high school. He is known to have actively engaged in slave trading, owning 100+ slaves which include the rape of men and women, killing babies and other horrendous acts. He became wealthy through the labor of the slaves. He also represented 15 court cases that were in support of slavery. He was very open in his racists views that led to racial subordination that we are still currently living. The school should be renamed to represent equity, diversity, social justice and reform.
