Murphey Candler Park Loop Road Petition

Not a Brookhaven resident but I use the park regularly

While not a resident, I am a visiting walker and birder, and I strongly oppose this loss of green space and disruption of habitat and wildlife.

I am a birder and use MCP a lot and appreciate its being a wonderful natural site. I am opposed to the loop road, which, I believe, will detract from nature in the park.

As a resident of MCP, and parent to young children who frequent the playground and other park amenities, I am strongly opposed to the loop road. I fear it will mostly be a waste of taxpayer dollars as I believe it will go largely unused, and could also create safety issues at the playground. I am not opposed to parking being available for pavilions upon request/reservation, and believe a keypad and single day access code could allow this to happen. The Pavilions should be available to be reserved for small groups free of charge for city residents in order to gain the access code.

The loop road is a bad idea.

I am a DeKalb Co. resident (Tucker) and birder, and I urge Brookhaven not to move forward forward on the loop road parking project.

Good effort

The parking spaces and cars driving through the wooded area of the park will negatively impact the safety of those using that area as well as impact wildlife habitat.

We love birding at MC Park. Please don't destroy the green space.

Please do not reopen the loop road. I have lived in the area since 1985 (Hampton Hall for 18 years and Ashford Lake for 17) and remember all the cars and noise when it was open. I do not remember seeing the reopening of the loop road in the original plans.

I am not a citizen of Brookhaven but green space is important to us all...especially the birds, who are not citizens of Brookhaven either!

I am an avid birder and oppose this change of such an important location for our wildlife.

This is a huge habitat for many animals and insects. A loss of such an important hot spot would be so terrible.

There should never be a road thru this area. More roads aren’t needed as much as more green space

Murphy Candler Park is an important natural area. Do the right thing and don’t build a road through it.

The birds need trees and protected green space. Even if I don't live in Brookhaven, I work there and enjoy walking at Murphy Candler Park.

Birdwatching at Murphey Candler Park is wonderful. Please don't destroy this beautiful green space and habitat for parking.

I enjoy birdwatching in Murphey Candler Park and would hate to see the loss of green space and bird habitat to a road.

Please don’t build the road

Don’t destroy a beautiful park to add more parking spaces. We don’t need to lose more open space during a time of pandemic!
