We love the natural feel of the park and cars going in and parking on this "loop road" is a disaster. Please abandon this plan. We just didn't understand what was being voted on, if in fact it was actually voted on. The opening of the loop road was not made clear to votes, at least to John and I.

As a resident of City of Brookhaven and patron of the park's natural areas for wildlife watching and birding, I oppose further development of Murphy Candler Park and encourage investment in preservation of green spaces, water quality protection, erosion control, invasive plant management, and native plant landscaping. Let nature thrive, talk a walk, not a drive. Future generations of constituents will be grateful for conservation efforts now.

The loop/horseshoe in Murphey Candler is a rare natural greenspace over looking the lake that is used by pedestrians, bikes and children from throughout the region (the playground is also back here). The city wants to open this up to traffic and build 44 spaces back here even though ample parking exists along Candler LaKe East which runs along this side of the park. Please sign the petition to save this wonderful space that all can use!

Although I’m not a resident of Brookhaven, I am an active member of Georgia Audubon and know that MCP is an important habitat for birds and other creatures. We must continue to protect these important areas within greater Atlanta.

I live in MCP & treasure the park. The loop road is where we enjoy being able to run & play without worry for cars. Of course people renting pavilions should be able to access their pavilion for loading, as they can now by request. Why should a wonderful half-mile be opened to car traffic when parking is abundant on Candler Lake East? I've given this feedback throughout the planning process: the loop road should be foot/bike traffic only. The park has plenty of room for improvement in other areas. We've lost multiple birds per year from entanglement with fishing lines/hooks & a beaver was shot & killed over the summer. I'd much rather see the park enhance clean-up & security efforts so this jewel of north DeKalb can be a safe & thriving stopover for the many animals and people who depend on it. Introducing car traffic into the heart of this unique habitat does not advance enjoyment or safety of the park.
