Morgan State University Alumni Support President Wilson
We, the alumni of the great Morgan State University, are categorically displeased by the decision of the Board of Regents to not renew the contract of our esteemed president, Dr. David Wilson. We are calling upon the Board of Regents to reconvene and promptly renew the contract of Dr. Wilson and restore the integrity of one of our nation’s finest and historic institutions of higher learning. The actions taken by the Board on December 4, 2012 are harmful to the legacy of our university and will bring irreparable harm upon our Alma Mater at a time when it is experiencing a continued renaissance under the leadership of Dr. Wilson. As the heirs to the legacy of a treasured historically Black university, the alumni are expressing their profound disappointment and disapproval of the University Regents actions and its treatment of President Wilson. This is OUR University and we are demanding that respect be shown for our sentiments in the oversight and management of our Alma Mater.
Dr. David Wilson has proven himself to be a strong and compassionate leader, and talented administrator, and has continued building upon the sound foundation laid by his predecessor. During the two and a half years of his leadership at Morgan, there has been indisputable and measurable progress in all areas of the University. The alumni community is proud to call him President and are impressed by the developments we see taking place on our beloved campus. The vote taken by the Board of Regents defies common sense and comes at a time of tremendous growth for an institution of limitless potential. When the landscape of HBCUs is surveyed, and we see the difficulties many of our sister institutions face, we are thankful for President Wilson’s leadership and his vision for Morgan State University. As alumni, including many who have family legacies at the university, our support of Dr. Wilson and loyalty to our Alma Mater should not be questioned or taken lightly.
We stand united with students on campus and call upon the University Board of Regents to meet with alumni to discuss the extension of Dr. Wilson’s contract and the ongoing stewardship of our Alma Mater. We demand greater transparency from those who have been entrusted with the oversight of a public institution and are offended by the manner in which the Board is conducting its business. The Board has sullied the reputation of our university and must be held accountable for its actions. As the guardians of Morgan State University, the alumni have every right and expectation that the Board of Regents will respect our wishes, act in a responsible manner and in accordance with their fiduciary responsibility, and protect all that we hold dear about our beloved campus on Cold Spring Lane and Hillen Road.
Therefore, the undersigned alumni of Morgan State University are demanding the University Board of Regents act in accordance to our wishes:
Immediately reverse its vote of December 4, 2012 and renew and extend the contract of President Wilson.
Convene a meeting with the alumni community to discuss its actions of December 4, 2012 and the ongoing oversight of Morgan State University.

The Board is watching these numbers and they need to see that we are not backing down on this. We are approaching two hundred fifty signatures and reaching that mark will show them our resolve is absolute.

The administration continues to ignore our messages while the tension on campus grows. I am exhausted by their silence but I refuse to let them forget that this institution belongs to us.

The Board of Regents is paying attention to these numbers and we need to push past one hundred tonight to show them our resolve is steady. This fight is draining but I am not walking away from our university.

The Board needs to stop playing games with our university.
total nonsense. the board is out of touch with what the students and alumni actually want. bring him back now.
MSU is finally moving in the right direction under his leadership. why stop the momentum???
Dr. Wilson has done more for Morgan in a few years than the others did in a decade. Keep him on board!
My alma mater deserves better than this. He is the best thing to happen to this campus in a long time.
