Extended time for lights Out

We the senior boarding student of The Miller School believe that we should have extended time for lights out. According to the student and parent handbook is states that: "if you are out of your room after lights out consider it a minor offense where disciplinary actions will take place meaning that if this rule is abused an action should take place. We are given the opportunity to request before 8:25 for an extra 30 minutes to do homework but still facing problems. As a senior we are required to be a lot more mature, and find ourselves with a lot more responsibilities. Seniors definitely need extended time to our study hall because of three main reasons. One our international students find themselves struggling with the language barrier to complete writing assignments that our due in multiple classes such as English, ESL, and many others. Second now that we are trying to find colleges fit for us, we need more time spent for applications, where we are not competing with our everyday homework. Lastly we think that we should encourage those who are not on 85 plus, because they may also need the time that is not given.
