Upon your upcoming visit to Israel, we, the undersigned, respectfully ask that you commute Jonathan Pollard's sentence to time already served and issue a presidential pardon immediately on humanitarian grounds.

We are certain that you are intimately familiar with Mr. Pollard's case and can recall the support for a decision to issue a presidential pardon advocated by former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger, George Shultz and former CIA director, James Woolsey. In the past few months, Mr. Pollard's health has deteriorated significantly and may be in danger of failing altogether as he continues to serve his life sentence for more than 27 years now.

Mr. President! As you travel to the State of Israel, we wish to remind you of the timeless words King Solomon penned thousands of years ago, now referred to as Ecclesiastes.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die...a time to kill, and a time to heal...a time to keep silence, and a time to speak."

We believe this is the time to speak. We believe this is the time to heal. Mr. President! Along with tens of thousands of average Israelis, we urge you to be the healer of this still throbbing wound and commute Mr. Pollard's sentence to time already served.
