This is a petition to request better facilities in Tidworth, Wiltshire.

As there is now a super garrison in Tidworth, we feel there should be more facilities for the growing number of families moving here.

There is hardly anything for small children in the local area except some play parks which aren’t much use when it’s raining. There is also a lack of facilities for older children & teenagers which has started to cause a rise in vandalism. Also there is nothing for the many single soldiers who have moved to the base.

There is also a lack of places at nursery’s, schools, dentists and doctors, which are basic needs of any community. You can’t move thousands of people to one tiny area and then provide only basic and sometimes expensive facilities which can’t cope with the amount of people living there.

There is a real lack of shops, pubs and no nightclubs at all in the area. We would like to have a choice about which pub we go to and not have to spend nearly £20 each way on a taxi to go to a nightclub. We would also like to be able to buy clothes from proper clothes shops and not just from Tescos and charity shops. As many Army wives don’t drive, when their husbands are away they're left very isolated and having to tackle expensive public transport with small children, just to buy clothes or food.

With an estimated 13,000 people living in Tidworth by the end of 2010, We, the undersigned need more and we need it now!
