A parent's worst nightmare is their child being sick. Imagine the diagnosis is cancer! Wouldn’t you want the very best doctor with the latest research and treatments? Did you know only 4% is how much the federal government gives towards childhood cancer research out of the cancer research budget. Do you know how much 4% really is? Its 196 million dollars out of the 4.9 billion dollar budget going to childhood cancer research from the federal government. This needs to change! Childhood Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the United states. Each day over 46 innocent children which includes infants, preschoolers, and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer and everyday 7 children will die. More of the federal government's budget for cancer research needs to go towards pediatric oncology!! It is not fair that any child must be stuck in a hospital room not getting to grow up and experience things like most kids. 4% is not enough money for childhood cancer research, and in the end, who is it that really determines the value of a life? 4 percent is a joke. these kids deserve way better than that. its heartbreaking to even think about how little is being done for them.
