The Women in Medicine and Science Committee, within the College of Medicine, has identified access to adequate childcare as a barrier to the recruitment and retention of outstanding talent. To this end, we would like to establish the need and garner community support for the development and pursuit of additional and affordable childcare that suits the diverse needs and flexible working hours of our faculty/staff.
Multiple options for funding are under consideration. Please sign your name, title and UC affiliation (ex. John Doe, Clinical Instructor, College of Medicine) in support of the statement below. Help us get to our goal of 1000 signatures by the end of January. Feel free to leave comments and share!
"I strongly support the need for additional access to year-round, affordable childcare (age 12 weeks to pre-school) for UC faculty and staff, within 5 miles of the medical campus."

I am honestly stunned by how quickly this has moved because I never thought we would reach this point so fast. The momentum belongs entirely to you and your willingness to speak up for our community. If you can help us cross the final gap to our goal today it might be just what we need to get real attention.

Affordable options are non existent around campus. This would be a game changer for so many of us.
Please make this happen. Trying to balance lab work and child care is a nightmare
Need this so bad. My current commute for daycare is adding an hour to my day easy.
Finally! Its impossible to find anything decent nearby that doesnt cost a whole paycheck. This is way overdue.
Long hours at the clinic make this absolutely necessary. Hope admin actually listens for once
