On Monday, January 5, 2009, the Monroe Board of Education voted 9-0 to approve a 2009-10 education budget of $51,440,217, or a 4.45% increase over the current 2008-09 operating budget.
The budget now moves on to First Selectman Tom Buzi and the Town Council. It then proceeds to the Board of Finance.
By signing this petition you are stating that you are in favor of the First Selectman, Town Council, and Board of Finance leaving the 2009-10 proposed education budget intact at the amount of $51,440,217.
By signing this petition you are supporting the dollar amount approved and not necessarily the cuts that have been included in the proposed budget. Parents and concerned citizens should continue to contact their Board of Education members regarding specific concerns in allocations, which can be altered and changed until after the time of referendum approval.
By signing this petition, you are not supporting specific programs or specific program cuts, just the final dollar amount as approved by the Monroe Board of Education
