Sign the petition and join the call for Mick Jones' Rock n Roll Public Library to become a traveling exhibition!

Please add your name (first/last, first, nickname) and your location (if you wish) to be counted, and don't forget to forward this petition to anyone you know who would be interested in signing as well.

Background: In mid 2009 Mick Jones (The Clash/Big Audio Dynamite/Carbon Silicon) opened up an exhibition called The Rock n Roll Public Library in London for a limited time, consisting of his music, pop culture, and memorabilia collection. After a successful run in two locations, the exhibition closed down indefinitely.

Driven by the frustration of not being able to travel to the UK to visit the exhibit myself, and seeing the photos of friends who had visited, I channeled the energy I would have spent throwing an unproductive tantrum into forming a group on Facebook. The group's mission is to gather as many people as we can in one place to show how much interest and support there is for the exhibit to hit the road and travel so that many more of us can share in the experience and excitement of the exhibition. We all know how much support there is, and is a matter of gathering us all in one place to show it!

Whether you are a Clash fan or not, this exhibit is an important documentation of music and cultural history for everyone, and I urge you to join in via the Facebook group (if you have a presence there) and sign the petition to show just how much support there is for Mick's Rock n Roll Public Library!

We respectfully call for the exhibit to hit the road so the rest of the world can enjoy this important piece of cultural history. After all it's stuff like this that makes the world go round!

Thank you!

Shannon

UPDATE April 2010:

Three cheers for Mick Jones' Rock n Roll Public Library! We recently received word that the Exhibition reopens at Chelsea Space in London on April 8 - 12, 2010 and is then Hitting the Road and will travel to The Gallery at NUCA (Norwich University College of the Arts) in Norwich, UK from April 13 - May 22, 2010!

Now is the time to really get motivated and continue to spread the word: get all your Mick/Clash loving friends to join the group over on Facebook, and sign this petition so we can keep the momentum going to show just how much support there is for the Library to continue to tour!

Imagine all the history in that room. It belongs in a museum not in storage somewhere. Bring it to NYC!
