Mobile Access to geocaching.com
More people are using Geocaching applications on their mobiles devices like iPhone, Android phones, PDA and such, as these devices have mobile internet access and in many cases also GPS receivers.
It would be handy to have mobile applications, that can access the caches near to the current position and download them. At the moment, this is only possible for those who have an iPhone and have bought one certain app.
We want to show Groundspeak, the company behind geocaching.com, that there is a broad user base that wants to get mobile access and that many users would also be willing to pay for it.
We propose to have an open WebService interface that uses a private/public (api-)key mechanism known from many WebServices. Groundspeak would keep control on how much a user can download and the users would be able to search, download and log Geocaches remotly with their preferred application.
