We hereby agree with the City Council’s approved February 12th motion, based upon Hennepin County’s and the City’s County Road 15 Study Group recommendation, to proceed with the County Road 15 modifications and additional median island refuge as shown in the attached draft. We understand the purpose is to slow traffic in the vicinity as well as to provide a pedestrian/bicyclist the opportunity to cross one lane of traffic at a time, if necessary. This includes the City of Minnetonka Beach creating a pathway to connect to the median island refuge.

Hwy 15 can be a freeway, particularly on the west side of Minnetonka Beach (when eastbound traffic exits Navarre and the stoplight). A button-activated flashing light at the west-end crosswalk would create some awareness, and make it much safer for crossing.
