The Board finally folded and agreed to reinstate our Pep Rally. Slavin and his administration realized they could not ignore 1,111 of us pushing for what is right. We won our tradition back, but let this be a warning that we are watching them closely from now on.

Dear Mr. Slavin, Dr. Higuera and the BOE Members,
We respectfully petition you to reinstate our Pep Rally scheduled for this fall. We understand your position of safety but we are not accountable nor should we be punished for the actions of others. For our Seniors, this is their last year at MPHS and they should have the same traditional experiences that have been in place since 1972. We want our Pep Rally Back!!

One hundred signatures proves that this community is finished with the constant excuses coming from the administration. Slavin and the board think they can just cancel our traditions without a fight but they are dead wrong.

I have no idea what happened to cause a district to punish everyone. There has to be some other things/ideas to persue. How about volunteer parents to help chaperone. Anything. Don't take away a memory!
Please stop taking the easy way out and lets work on finding ways to address issues that do not punish innocent children. Parents and students are willing to help, please let them. The dismissive behavior of our administration is embarrassing to our school district.
This is supposed to be the last hoorah for our graduating class.. We just want one last GREAT pep rally with our peers to celebrate the closing of our high school careers. Please allow us to enjoy this one last time.
Having no pep rally at MP is just an easy solution to a difficult problem. Find a way to prevent the issues that were done by a few. The other 99% of the student body should not lose out on a tradition that they look forward to as a fun high school experience. GO Panthers!
My daughter is a SR there, this is the same class that was denied an 8th grade Washington DC trip! I don't understand why ALL kids should be punished because of the actions of a few. Reprimand the ones responsible, take away from them NOT everyone!!
These kids deserve this!
Another stupid move for Miller Place's Administration. Higara needs to go ASAP

MPHS Cheerleader 1978-1981, Captain 1980-81, National Honor Society member, Honor Student and mother of 3 MPHS Grads. Some of my fondest memories at MPHS are of Homecoming Pep Rallies. Please uphold this tradition for the Class of 2015 and forward.
