Owners of the property at 102 S. Rodney Parham are petitioning for the right to build a Storage Facility next to Red Lobster AGAIN. We fought this battle seven years ago, and now they're back. If you're as concerned as I am, please email city hall at [email protected] by May 10th to have your voice heard at the May 11th meeting. You may also speak at the meeting, which will be May 11 at 4p.m. We already have four storage facilities in the immediate area, do we really need another one?

I have been hearing from so many of you who remember the exhaustion of fighting this seven years ago. It feels like we are living through the same nightmare all over again but I am grateful to know I am not the only one tired of seeing our neighborhood treated this way.

May 2, 2023

Seeing this kind of momentum reminds me that we are not going to let them force this project through our neighborhood again. It is truly powerful to see so many of you standing together to stop another unnecessary facility from taking over our street.

I write to protest the petition being put forward to use the property at 102 S. Rodney Parham for a storage facility. A storage facility at this location is unneeded as there are other facilities nearby. One that comes to mind is at 9305 N Rodney Parham Rd. The intersection at Rodney Parham and Markham is very busy. Ingress and egress to a storage facility at 102 S. Rodney Parham would unnecessarily complicate an already dangerous intersection.

I totally disagree with the prospect of a storage facility added to the Rodney Parham corridor. That is not an appropriate area for such a thing. It has ruined the vision of the local, neighborhood shopping area in that part of town.

Our city is becoming an eyesore. So many of our retail stores and restaurants have closed in recent years, leaving empty buildings and vacant properties. These vacancies have given opportunities for unattractive, low-end businesses such as vape stores, liquor stores, car washes, laundromats, and storage facilities to move in and pollute the aesthetic of our once unique and thriving city. Please don’t let this continue! Unfortunately, there are needs for storage facilities, but they should not be allowed to dominate and degrade the visual landscape of our charming city.

We do not need another storage rental business in this area. We dis not need it 7 years ago and we do not need it now. The latest stats show rental in storage units are down by 5% and continue to decline. Storage units bring additional problems such as unproperly disposed of trash, people coming to their rentals at all hours of the night, potential for vagrancy. Dear city of Little Rock and zoning board be a good steward to this neighborhood and do not let this happen.

There are storage facilities throughout our neighborhood. Please do not continue this trend. It has been repealed in the past. We need more thoughtful development. Not more noisy, ugly buildings abutting homes. It will only drive down the value of those homes.

We already have four storage facilities in this area. We do not need a fourth. We need all the help we can get bringing things in that increase property values rather than these types of businesses. Thank you.

We are overrun with storage facilities in this area. Another one is absolutely not needed.
