My name is Christine Przystas and I am a BCBS member and an LPC. LPC's are trained the same as other people you have paneled and deserve to be part of your panel. With the shortage of therapists in various specialties at this time, it is vital you change your policy and have more well trained therapist available to us, your members.

I am a counselor with license in Michigan and Many clients looking for specialized services for their children cannot hire my services since Blue cross doesn't panel counselirs. It is a shame that the demand for mental health providers is high and clients have very few and limited options to shop amongst. Mental health providers are needed. There are not enough therapists for the population and the few ones there are, are not being well utilized due to the narrow knowledge when it comes to recognize the quality of services in all mental health providers. I support the petition to include counselors in the panel of blue cross of Michigan.

LPCs are highly trained mental health professionals who are raising awareness of their existence and of their competencies. Please help us and those in need of mental health treatment to hire LPCs

In other states, LPCs are coverered without supervision by major medical insurance companies, as MSWs are in Michigan. Similar practices should exist in Michigan for LPCs.

BCBS Michigan has been covering my visits for the last year and a half... Suddenly, they began dening my claims. Even after telling me that the provider was covered! This is unbelievable. I would not have gotten insurance thru my company if I knew that BCBS Michigan did not cover LPCs!!! They are very important to my well-being!
